The Jubilee Hall was built in 1935 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V. Villagers gave donations and several bricks were built into the walls with their names, which are still there to this day. The hall is used extensively during the week with regular activities and is available for children’s parties and social functions, however, the committee were conscious of the poor acoustics within the space.
They contacted acoustic specialists Sound Reduction Systems Ltd (SRS) with a view to exploring potential treatments. After sending over some basic information regarding their room, such as the dimensions, details of the surface finishes and some pictures of the ceilings and walls, SRS were able to use their modelling software to accurately predict the reverberation time of the hall and found that, with an overall mid-frequency reverberation time of (Tmf) of 3.10s, the hall was in need of an absorptive treatment.
SRS recommended a treatment of 46sqm of their Class A rated, decorative Sonata Aurio panels and supplied the committee with a report and costs based on this solution. As the costs met with the approval of the hall, SRS despatched a technical representative to site for a free of charge site survey, where they were able to meet with the committee, drop off samples and take detailed measurements in order to provide a layout design for the panels.
SRS were able to install the panels quickly and efficiently within a few weeks from order. Following the installation Steve Knowles, Parish Councillor, commented:
“As I said we are very pleased with the Sound Absorption panels recently fitted.
Everything from the appreciation of our problems, the options, together with the explanations were well presented and contained sufficient technical information to be understandable without blinding us with science!
The quotation offered a good solution at a reasonable cost. The pre-order site survey was a bonus too!
The site team arrived promptly, efficiently and accurately fitted the panels and tidied up diligently after they'd finished the fitting.
All-in-all a good job done.
Many thanks for your help and please do not hesitate to use us as a reference site if you need to.”
