Reverberation Reduced at Maybury Primary School

Another Class A Installation from SRS

Sonata Vario sound absorption panels

Earlier this year Sound Reduction Systems Ltd (SRS) supplied Class A Sonata Vario acoustic absorbers to treat a reverberation problem within the multi-purpose hall at Maybury Primary School in Hull. The size of the hall and the high number of acoustically reflective surfaces present meant that excessive noise and reverberation was created during use.

Following site surveys from SRS Director Richard Sherwood and colleague Alan Randall, on behalf of expert installers Floorscan Acoustics Ltd, proposals were drawn together about the amount of absorption required to solve the acoustic problem and the most practical way to introduce it within the hall.

Calculations showed that the recommended treatment of just over 85 square metres of Sonata Vario absorbers, spread over the ceiling and at high level on the walls, reduced the the modelled mid-frequency reverberation time (average of 500Hz, 1000Hz, and 2000Hz) from 3.83s to 1.42s and the overall reverberation time (from 125Hz to 8000Hz) from 2.93s to 1.36s.

The school chose a combination of 'Cherry' and 'Chrome' Sonata Vario panels from the range of attractive colours available.

Claire Winship, Business Manager at Maybury School commented "We are delighted with the sound absorption panels you installed at Maybury"
