Home Cinema Soundproofing

I have just purchased a home cinema system and I'm concerned about disturbing neighbours whilst watching films.  Can SRS assist?

Soundproofing your home cinema

Soundproofing in the home has more and more applications. One of the more popular ones is soundproofing for home cinemas. This amazing technology brings the movie-going experience into your home, making big nights in all the more worthwhile. However, home cinema also comes with some impressive aural features, like surround sound. If you want to enjoy this technological wizardry without subjecting the neighbours to excess noise, or indeed without being disturbed by external noise, you'll want some kind of soundproofing for your home cinema.

Maxiboard soundproofing

Luckily, at Sound Reduction Systems (SRS), we've got a few soundproofing solutions for your home cinema that'll appease the neighbours and keep the family movie night as sacred as you want it to be. One of the best ways of soundproofing your home cinema is Maxiboard. Maxiboard is a wall-lining system that can be used in your home cinema without losing too much space. Maxiboard is a dense building board that soundproofs your home cinema and creates a box within a box.

Spoil your décor? Absolutely not. Maxiboard home cinema soundproofing can be overboarded with plasterboard and a skim finish. This extra layer of plasterboard saves time, is a surface that plasterers are familiar with, and can actually increase acoustic performance.

Maxiboard is an easy-to-install home cinema soundproofing system and it takes up less than 7cms of room space. It's a super-strong home-soundproofing system, as well – you'll have no trouble fixing shelves, speakers and screens to it with no reduction in soundproofing quality. You can even soundproof your ceiling with Maxiboard – ideal if your home cinema is in a basement – and you'll lose only about 6cms of headroom. Of course, if your home cinema is on a higher floor, you'll want to soundproof the floor. You can use Maxideck for that, or you can lay Acoustilay 15, which can also help reduce airborne noise.

Absorbent acoustic panels

To get the most out of your home cinema, you might also want to consider the internal acoustics. SRS's Sonata are absorbent acoustic panels that can dramatically improve the sound of your home cinema and make speech much more intelligible. Sonata panels come in a range of different colours to discreetly complement your home cinema.
