Floor Soundproofing

Do SRS manufacture any floor soundproofing materials?

When soundproofing a floor, it is first necessary to determine what type of floor construction you have. This will usually either be a timber joisted floor or a concrete floor of some description. Secondly, it is important that you understand what type of soundproofing issue that you have. For example, is it an impact noise problem (footsteps, dropped items), an airborne problem (TV, speech, music) or a combination of both. Lastly, is the floor in a domestic, commercial or other type of premises?

If you arm yourself with this basic information, then you will stand the best chance of getting accurate soundproofing advice.

Issues when soundproofing floors

Effective soundproofing materials for floors will certainly increase the floor height to a certain degree. Also, some acoustic floor systems take the form of soft floor coverings. These materials are not instantly compatible with the vinyl or ceramic floor finishes often found in bathrooms and kitchens.

Thankfully, at Sound Reduction Systems Ltd (SRS), we're widely acclaimed for, not only the performance of our soundproofing materials for use on floors, but also their ease of installation and lack of disruption to the existing building. Industry leading systems such as Acoustilay, Maxideck and Subprimo are able to tackle a wide range acoustic flooring problems and are compatible with most floor finishes. With over 25 years in the acoustic supply industry, soundproofing floors present no problems for us.

Acoustic products for soundproofing floors

As mentioned, we've developed a comprehensive range of acoustic products for soundproofing floors. Our range of materials includes Acoustilay, Maxideck, and Subprimo, which offer high acoustic performance against both impact and airborne noise in all types of floor constructions.

We often recommend Acoustilay 15 for soundproofing timber joisted floors in domestic properties as it provides an excellent all-round performance for impact and airborne noise at only 15mm tick. Acoustilay is simply loose laid onto the existing floorboards, and will also act as your carpet or timber floor underlay.

Maxideck is perfect where airborne noise is a major issue, and Subprimo has been designed specifically with timber and laminate flooring in mind, and the associated impact noise issues. Acoustilay 3 is the perfect choice for dealing with impact noise issue through concrete floors.

Benefits of using SRS products to soundproof your floor: -
  • Very high acoustic performance
  • Impact noise
