Ceiling Soundproofing

When soundproofing a ceiling, it is first necessary to determine what type of construction you have. This will usually either be timber joisted or a concrete systems of some description. Secondly, it is important that you understand what type of soundproofing issue that you have. For example, is it an impact noise problem (footsteps, dropped items), an airborne problem (TV, speech, music) or a combination of both. Lastly, is the floor in a domestic, commercial or other type of premises?

Effective soundproofing materials and systems for ceilings will certainly involve losing some of the room height.

The Maxiboard is often applied to the offending ceiling on an isolating framework, known as SRS Maxi Resilient Bars, also supplied by SRS. The resilient bars effectively de-couple the Maxiboard from the existing ceiling construction, creating a ‘floating’ ceiling. We also supply acoustic mastics and sealants to complete the service.
