Acoustics for Community Halls and Places of Worship
Community halls and places of Worship are often large, open areas with hard, acoustically reflective surfaces on the walls floors and ceilings. As a direct result of this, speech and song can result in a great deal of echo and reverberation, spoiling performances in the case of public shows, and seriously effecting speech intelligibility in community meetings, seasonal fetes and prayer, to name but a few examples. The large variety of uses for these types of buildings can cause acoustic designers and specifiers problems, and each building will have its own particular requirement. It is often necessary to ‘tune’ the room depending on the activities occurring within it. This is where the extremely versatile and high performance Sonata range of products, and the experience and knowledge of our qualified acoustic technical team can be of great use to you.
Please see below for a brief description of the products, but should you wish to speak to an advisor about your particular building or project, or to organise a site visit by a qualified representative, please feel free to call us on 01204 380074 or email your enquiry to info@soundreduction.co.uk
Sonata Aurio - Sonata Aurio absorbers are suitable for application onto walls and ceilings and can be installed cleanly and quickly using our recommended adhesive. The Sonata Aurio absorber comprises of a techni
cal acoustic foam with either a factory applied fabric finish or a factory applied PVC paint finish which is applied to the face, edges and back return.
Sonata Vario - The Sonata Vario absorber comprises technical acoustic foam bonded to a rear metal support frame which is pre-finished with precision laser-cut fixing apertures. Sonata Vario absorbers are designed to be installed onto either walls, using proprietary brackets, or ceilings, using the Sonata Vario suspension pack, and in either portrait or landscape orientation.
Sonata Duo - The Sonata Duo absorber comprises two absorptive panels mounted either side of a perforated centre support frame. This unique design allows sound to reach the centre of the Sonata Duo through the perforated frame increasing absorption capacity. This construction gives a noticeable increase in wideband absorption performance, which in turn means that for many applications, fewer Sonata Duo units are required than the more conventional solid ‘slab’ absorber.
Sonata Acoustics absorbers are high acoustic performance, easy to install, free from mineral fibre and glass wool, and are available in a number of visually pleasing coloured fabric finishes.
If sound insulation, or soundproofing, is required between rooms within Community Halls and Place of Worship, SRS can also assist. SRS manufacture a number of high performance soundproofing materials for walls, floors and ceilings:
Maxiboard - High density, composite building board suitable to improve the sound insulation performance of walls and ceilings. Maxiboard comes into its own where maximum acoustic performance is required with minimal loss of room space.
Acoustilay - SRS Acoustilay is the original proprietary underlay system: Beware of imitations! New SRS Acoustilay still offers the same high acoustic performance of the previous product, is still completely UK manufactured, but is now fully 100% recyclable. Genuine SRS Acoustilay now has a green, PVC free barrier mat for clear identification, and also has installation guidance clearly printed upon it to avoid confusion and delay on site.
Maxideck - High density, 28mm composite acoustic flooring overlay board, typically installed on top of floorboards, beneath the finished floor surface.
SubPrimo - Acoustic underlay for laminate and timber flooring. SubPrimo is a 6mm acoustic underlay that can be loose laid onto the floor prior to the installation of the laminate of timber floor. SubPrimo can be used in conjunction with the Maxi 60 Ceiling as part of the Total Party Floor Solution.
Whatever the acoustic problem SRS can assist. On hand we have an industry leading technical department, all full members of the Institute of Acoustics, ready to give accurate advice on any noise problem or aspect of acoustic design. The SRS technical department can be contacted on 01204 380074, emailed at info@soundreduction.co.uk, or why not try out Liveperson webchat facility (available Monday to Friday 9am-5pm)
